The Green Coast Council is a forum for exchanging management strategies and technologies between area businesses and industries that promote excellence in environmental management. The goal of the Council is to encourage the adoption and implementation of sustainable development business principles that promote excellence in environmental management.

The Council provides an opportunity for members to provide positive environmental leadership in the community. The purposes and objectives of the Council include, but are not limited to:

1. Identifying, approving, and endorsing a set of guiding principles on sustainable business development practices to be a sustainable business.
2. Providing a forum where environmental leaders from business, industry and advocacy organizations explore the economic and environmental benefits of implementing sustainable development business practices.
3. Cooperating and coordinating with existing collaborative business initiatives currently dealing with technical aspects of environmental management.
4. Developing a recognition program to provide community-wide public awareness awards to members making substantial progress in achieving sustainable development goals.
